Wal-Mart to Customers: Your Downloads No Good Anymore

Ah, when twin evil empires unite: if you downloaded music from Wal-Mart's digital music store before August 2007--and even as recently as February of this year--you won't be able to play them come October 9th, due to these files bearing Microsoft's DRM (digital rights management) protection format, the development and support of which they have since abandoned. This is in turn led the retail giant to switch up its file formatting this past February, thus the fiasco at hand.

No schadenfraude on our part over here, but hey, we're Macheads for a reason, you know.
