Look out, Ryan Adams, the Purple One is catching up:
Billboard reports that one Prince Rogers Nelson will issue not two, but three albums of new music this year, all by his lonesome, without record company assistance. (Digital versions will be available via his website, while "a major retailer" will handle physical copies of the albums.)
The first of the trifecta is said to be "electro-flavored" while its follow-up will be "guitar driven"--hooray!--and will be titled MPLSOUND and Lotus Flower, respectively. Q-Tip will be featured on the former, and the latter will include a cover of "Crimson and Clover". No word on what the third album will be like or release dates for any of them.
