The word is out that Apple has reached an agreement with the major record labels to remove copy protection--aka DRM, digital rights management protection--and also permit tracks to be downloaded directly to cell phones from their iTunes store. In addition, individual tracks will not be 99 cents across the board, but will cost more for certain "hit" songs, while older, "catalog" tunes, will be as low as 79 cents, in an effort to push slower moving titles.
(Oh, and while they're at it could they enable users to purchase music from the international stores? There's some tracks by The Pursuit of Happiness we wanna buy from iTunes Canada...)
C/Net has more.
