We thought the audio quality controversy regarding Metallica's St. Anger album had already died along with whatever momentum the disc had. (For the record, we are among the few in both the respective musician/audio fields and fan/critic camps who actually like the record. Yeah, that snare drum is a bit annoying but the tunes are there, for the most part. And no lame-ass ballads, either.) But the issue was raised anew with 2008's Death Magnetic, with claims of the Guitar Hero version of the album being of superior audio quality.
Well, the controversy--like almost everything else these days--has gone viral. We were sent this clip with lyrics set to the tune of "Master of Puppets" that mocks Death Magnetic producer Rick Rubin and the band, and thought we'd share it with you guys.
Of course, Metallica has been pissing off their fanbase for a while now. And this medley, which includes snippets of "Are You Gonna Go My Way", "Smells Like Teen Spirit", "7 Nation Army" and Michael Jackson's "Beat It" (!) didn't help, either. (We don't have a problem with it, by the way.)
