Miriam Makeba, the South African legend considered by many to have been the musical voice of the anti-apartheid struggle, died in Italy on Nov. 9th, after collapsing onstage from a heart attack.

She was 76.

RIP to a true revolutionary. I had the opportunity to play a festival in Italy the same night she performed and she had a stadium dead silent hanging on every word. One of the most powerful performances I've seen.
